December 9, 1977
Thousands of farmers parked their tractors and trailers in a clay soybean field in the small town of McDonough. In the red clay plot, tractors of all colors covered in signs and flags idled to warm up for the 30-mile trip to the Georgia state capitol building. All along I-75, sightseers on the overpasses took pictures and showed their support to the broke and beleaguered farmers who formed a column that stretched for 26 miles. On December 10, 1977, Georgia witnessed the largest farmer led demonstration in the world.
