December 9, 1977

Thousands of farmers parked their tractors and trailers in a clay soybean field in the small town of McDonough. In the red clay plot, tractors of all colors covered in signs and flags idled to warm up for the 30-mile trip to the Georgia state capitol building. All along I-75, sightseers on the overpasses took pictures and showed their support to the broke and beleaguered farmers who formed a column that stretched for 26 miles. On December 10, 1977, Georgia witnessed the largest farmer led demonstration in the world.

If you or someone you know is in one of these photos and would like a copy of it, please let me know! These pictures were given to me, so I will gladly return the favor. This is the only way the Farmers’ Strike will continue to exist.
